Tickenham WI’s next meeting is the 8th of July. We’ll be having an introduction to chair yoga and dance from Natalie who runs AKASA Dance and Yoga. It promises to be a very enjoyable and different session. The competition is “Your favourite exercise or beauty tip”.
Ploughman’s Lunch (Tuesday July 15th)
Our annual Ploughman’s Lunch is an extra meeting for the month of July. Tickets, £7.50, are now available from the Treasurer. It is being held at a member’s home (details on the tickets) on Tuesday July 15th, 11.45am for 12. Whilst the main meal is organised by the committee, we would like offers of desserts from members and a list for donations will be passed round at the July meeting. Any offers of saleable items are also welcomed for the sales table. Last year items were quickly snapped up and ranged from jewellry to tea cloths to china to plants. Bring to the next meeting or on the day. Our fingers are crossed for good weather as we can then sit outside and take in the glorious views across Tickenham Moors.
Tickenham Flower Show (Saturday August 16th)
Our WI has the honour of providing teas and light lunches on the day of the annual Tickenham Flower Show, Saturday August 16th, at Tickenham Village Hall and Field. Volunteers for all aspects of running the tea room are wanted: serving, selling and donating cakes to sell. A list will be circulated at the next meeting for anyone willing to volunteer time or sweet treats.
The Grand Raffle itself is named after a long-time member and a past President of the WI, Mary McEwen Smith. No longer with us but reminiscences about her happen all the time!
A reminder that there is no parking for visitors at the hall itself but a park and ride is available next to Tickenham Golf Club with the minibus service running at regular intervals. The show opens at 12pm and last bus to the park and ride is at 5pm.
